Oragnised by the Hong Kong Furniture and Decoration Trade Association and sponsoredby Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the exhibition of "Project HK-UK: Design, Artistry and Craftsmanship" will take place at DesignInspire, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, on December 5th-7th. 18 groups of HK and UK designers will showcase the furniture pieces they've created in the past 6 months based on briefs by 6 multidisciplinary designers, with the assistance from production mentors. From works inspired by Chinese typography, tea ceremony, jewellery and reading, to furniture for architects or fashion designers, these groundbreaking designs will be exhibited for the first time at the show. This project sees the unprecedented collaborations between 6 UK design groups and eminent Hong Kong designers. Together they created a collection of furniture designs manifesting the British design ethos and artisanship. This groundbreaking design crossover fuses the essence of Eastern and Western designs, presenting original and exquisite works to the Hong Kong audience.

In the 6-month mentorship scheme, 12 renowned Hong Kong designers were invited to be design mentors, each guiding 3 or 4 mentees to create a piece of furniture. Among the mentees are emerging design groups from the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, graphic design, etc. Each of them contributed refreshing visions and perspectives, injecting innovative elements to local furniture design.
